Departure to the pagan temple of Garni. The temple was built in the 1st century and is dedicated to the ancient Armenian sun god Mihr. The temple consists of 24 columns, which symbolized the 24 hours of the day. Visit to the Garni Gorge "Symphony of Stones". The Symphony of Stones are basalt rocks in the shape of straight pipes and about 100m high. They are called symphonies because from a distance they resemble an organ. Such rocks are formed when lava suddenly hardens: this form turns out to be energetically favorable. There are especially many such rocks in the Azat River gorge, which is included in the list of UNESCO sites.
Next, move to the Geghard monastery complex (early 4th century), which is included in the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites. Geghard Monastery is an inimitable masterpiece of Armenian architecture of the 13th century. Then return to Yerevan. Free time. Overnight at a hotel in Yerevan.
